The tolstoys. The Great Dynasty

the documentary cyclus

Tolstoy – this surname has been known in Russia since the 14th century. For seven centuries of the Russian history there were Tolstoys writers, ministers, seafarers, artists, governors, farmers, composers, academicians, journalists… A lot of Tolstoys have always been there, and the number remains the same. This fine feature of the family wonders perpetually as well: what family ties do these or those Tolstoys have? Today's the Tolstoys is one of the most branched, but also the most close-knit, happiest families. Every episode of a cyclus is devoted to the story about destiny of one of representatives of a noble family: first count Tolstoy Pyotr Andreevich, general Osterman-Tolstoy Alexander Ivanovich, unusual adventurer and one of the best minds of the time. Fyodor Ivanovich Tolstoy, the beloved sister of Leo Tolstoy – Maria Nikolaevna, the writer's granddaughter Sofya Andreevna Tolstaya-Yesenina, the younger daughter of Leo Nikolaevich – Aleksandra Lvovna, the count Alexey Tolstoy and his great-grandson Vladimir Ilyich – the director of the museum in Yasnaya Polyana.
